I have a Compaq V6215CA laptop with a Broadcom wireless G wireless network card running Windows Vista Premium.

I also have a D-Link DI-624 wirless router and my internet is through a DSL provider.

Sometimes either have a fresh start up of the laptop or when it comes out from stanby from time to time, my laptop wireless light comes on, I'm connected but with limited connectivity. The only way to get back on the internet or connect to the router config settings is to actually pull the power cord out of the router thus resetting the router and then my laptop now re connects to the router and internet with no problem.

My question is, is this the laptop, Vista or the router? I've never had this problem before I got this laptop with Vista. Seems to me it could be a problem with Vista and the router or Vista and the laptop as when I'm connected, I seem to have no problems and my router hasn't froze in weeks.

I know some don't like D-Link but I feel they've been ok. Of course this product is under warranty so there shouldn't be a problem with sending it to D-Link but I would kind of like to know if it's the router or not.

Perhaps there is some setting that I need to change. Since this router is very common, someone might know what to do.

Thanks to anyone that can help me.

One way to eliminate the router as a culprit would be to plug the laptop directly into the modem.

Does the router give you trouble while hard-wired into the laptop (not on wireless)?

I have the same problem with my Linksys wireless router. If I use wireless or wired when I go into standby mode and then I wake it up it says the limited connectivity. It's not my ISP because I just unplug from the router and into the NIC and its all good. Usually about 1 every 1-3 days I have to unplug and the router power and then plug it back in. Once I do that its all good. I've did firmware update and talked with Linksys and to no avail. O well, I just flip the switch and deal with it. It is electronics ya know!

I do not have that problem with my DI-624 whether im connecting to the router in Windows XP OR Vista. Like always, first make sure your firmware's updated. Then make sure your drivers are also updated (on your comp)

There are no issues on my desktop which is wired to my router.

I have the latest firmware on my router as well.

I have been thinking of asking D-Link to upgrade me to the 2310 which I know is pretty much the same router but with different software. I'm not sure if they'll do that for me.

Well, resetting gets the thing working again but I'd rather not have to do that almost every time I turn the laptop on. It's like the computer on Vista finds my router as unkown until I reset.
