Hi all, I've been trying to connect a new Lexmark x4850 WiFi printer to a couple of HP laptops, but every time I try to print I see the command go to the print queue then disappears on one, while on the other computer the data goes to the print initiation display box but after loading fails to print.

I have set the I.P. address in Norton's Home network security page on both laptops with both computer showing the printer in the Home Security Map and I've set windows firewall to allow the printer to gain access to the laptops, but I still can't see the printer in either laptops other than in the printer & fax page.

Both the computers are running on vista and the router is a Linksys WRT 54G multi gateway router.

Any help given would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you should have the Windows firewall running if you are using Norton. First, turn off Windows firewall and see if things start working. If not, turn off Norton and see if things start working.

I would kill norton first, it's has a history of causing problem. But to disable norton you must actually uninstall it and use the utility on Symantic's site to remove all of it files. Symantic does not know what un-install means.

Thanks to all for your advice but I got it going. I was selecting add network, wireless or bluetooth, when I should have been selecting the other, add local printer. I have a picture to show where I was going wrong.

I'm spinng out to get the sucker going, it took hours :spinny:
