My friend who lives in Germany told me last week that he read in German version of The Economist that there are several companies involved in developing laptops with integrated cell phones. Has anyone heard of any similar rumors. Thanks

'converged' devices have been in R&D for years now. The two or three that have made it to market died quickly.

Cellular data (EDGE, 3G, 4G, etc) integrated modems are another thing.

Sounds like they're trying to build internal versions of the cellular adapters that are in use right now that permit a laptop to receive broadband internet over the cell phone radio waves.
