For some reason my laptop won't connect to the internet. It's connected to the network just fine, just cannot connect to the internet. I ran an sfc /scannnow, updated the wifi drivers... tried everything I could think of.

I even tried connecting the router/modem to the laptop via ethernet and that still didn't work. The internet connection is fine, a bunch of laptops and iPads are connected and working without a problem.

Oddly enough, I can connect to another network (and the internet) on the laptop just fine but for some reason on this network it doesn't want to work.

    Any ideas?

    ---EDIT

I've done an ipconfig release/renew.... works now. But if I restart the laptop, internet stops working and I have to do ipconfig release/renew again to get it to work.

Remove the wireless location reboot and add it back in and see if that helps. May want to check your FW settings too.

When if fails, test to see if you can ping sites outside (using IP address) of your network. If so you are have a DNS server problem. If not check to see what your gateway is. I have seen a few NB over the years that when connected to some routers would not pull this info from the router. Normally updating drivers and router firmware fixes the problem.

    Good luck

Usually there's a reset button on the back of the router, check the manual and if it doesn't remove all custom settings you should safely press it so it'll restart/reset :)
