My laptop died last week so my friend gave me his old packard bell to use while I get a replacement.

I installed my hard drive into the laptop and most of the drivers installed. I downloaded the broadcom wifi driver from the site, and it installed fine and the wifi was working.

2 days later (today) the wifi doesn't see to be working. When looking for networks it shows the 5 bars icon with the cross, giving me an error.
When I use the troubleshooting utility, it says wi-fi adapter is switched off, however, the hardware buttoin and Fn+F2 combo both have no result.
In device manager it shows the device as enabled.

I have disabled/re-enabled the device, re-installed drivers, tried the button, key combo multiple times but no luck.
Any ideas on how I can sort this out, need the wifi to be able to do my university assignments.

    Thanks

Depending on how old it is it may require Launch Manager software (if it's a PB bought after Acer had bought PB) or a different application from Packard Bell.
Sometimes these stop working or starting with system for some reason- if that happens Wi-Fi is not enabled (even though it is visible in the device manager).

So if you manage to figure out if it's Launch Manager or something else re-install it and try again.

Thanks for the info downloads, you were right!

I still had launch manager from my previous acer installed on the HD, uninstalled it, and installed the one on the packard bell driver page and all is well now, wi-fi running fine
Didn't know that acer had bought PB or even that proprietary software could stop the HW working properly.

Thanks again for your help :D (+rep)
