Hi, yesterday I bought a new dlink router that supports up to 300 mbps on wireless N. So I get home, setup the router, check inSSIDer, and can see that my network is broadcasting at 300 mbps on N. My problem is that when I connect my laptop to the router, it is only getting 54 mbps, and the router reports that the laptop is using G mode. I have an HP Envy 17, so I know it has wireless N capabilities, but how do I make it connect using it instead of G? And I don't want to disable mixed mode on the router, because I have other devices that need G.
Thanks,
Lennon

Is security set to WPA2+AES?
-
It is on WPA/WPA2, but for cipher type its on TKIP and AES. Should I limit this to only AES?

Yes set it to AES. It has to be WPA2+AES in order to achieve "n" speeds.
The way you have it it's either WPA2+AES or WPA+TKIP (the latter limits you to 54mbps)
Laptop only connects to router in Wireless G mode.
