Well I'm hosting a mini lan party this Sunday between a a couple family members so its not too big a deal. I thought it would be easier than it really is so I need some help.

    What we're using is:
    Two laptops running Windows Vista
    One laptop running Windows XP
    One Linksys Router (model: wrt54g)
    One cable modem

All the computers are online so thats not an issue. I just don't know Vista all too well so this is pretty hard.

If you look around this board a bit, you'll find a few threads regarding how to get XP and Vista computers to talk.

You don't need to setup file and print sharing in order to game with each other. As long as they are on the same router you will be fine. Also, I would suggest not to game wirelessly with that router, you will experience lag.
