I've sometimes found that the wireless driver from Intel works better than the notebook makers.

    AlexC,

There's a few things you need to check:

    1. Are the drivers installed correctly and the H/W detecting properly in Device Manager?

    2. After point #1 is complete and you turn on the WLAN card, did you setup a connection to the router (enter SSID, WEP, etc...)?

    3. Check your router to see if you have MAC Filtering enabled, if so, either disable it or enter your WLAN's MAC address into the list

    4. On your router, try enabling SSID broadcasting (some WLAN cards have problem picking up a network if it's disabled)

    5. After steps 2, 3 & 4 are done, does it work? If not, you can even go as far as disabling encryption and all security and see if it helps. If it does, then it means sonething was entered incorrectly and didn't match up.

    Good Luck!
