    Hey guys,

Ive had this router for about 6 months now working perfectly. I have it configured with security, some ports are forwarded set up with dhcp. The other day, the wireless just died. All of the wired connections work perfectly, there is no longer a wireless signal from my router. Under the http setup it is still setup the way I had it. No settings were changed or anything.
    I tried rebooting the router.
    Upgrading the firmware
    resetting the router

Ive tried to connect to this router with three different laptops and none can see this router anymore.

I haven't dropped the router or overheated it at all.

I am clueless on how to go forward with fixing this.

    Any suggestions?

Also I am pretty sure it is out of warranty.

Sounds just like the issue I have at the moment, although I can see the router and I can see the machines connected to it, I just can't access the internet although I can ping google etc from the routers built in software.

Yea I don't know what happened. The signal dropped right in the middle of an internet session. Disappeared completely.
I have never heard of a wireless router jsut dieing like that.

Sound like the radio failed in the router. Contact Linksys and get a replacement, still under warranty. You may turn it off for several hr's. It may come back on after cooling off.

If you are seeing a new AP in your area that is real strong, your neighbor may have knocked you out.

I'm a little jaded with Linksys as I had one die on me after about that period of time I think.

I don't recommend Linksys at all any more. They went down hill after Sisco bought them.

I looked up on linsys's website. I dont have the receipt for the router anymore so no warranty for me.

Im pretty much giving up on the router and just using it as a wired router until I get a new one

Im looking at this asus n router with usb ports and a bittorrent mode.

    anyone use this one before?

I would highly recommend the Buffalo tech routers with the DD-WRT firmware. The Asus router we tested at the office, and had mixed results with varying cards. I am not sure I could actually recommend it since half our users had problems with dropped connections when using WPA2-AES -- WPA2-TKIP was fine, but I suspect the lifespan of the WPA2/AES encryption is longer than TKIP.

The buffalo listed here has performed well at work, but at home I still have a WRT54G (rev.2) working with DD-WRT I agree since Cisco bought them Linksys has been marginal.

I am not sure. On intel's website, they say that the routers that are compatible will have a sticker that looks like this.
    http://www.intel.com/network/connectivity/products/wireless/connect.htm
The asus one I posted does, but the buffalo one posted above has a different logo/sticker.
    http://www.buffalotech.com/products/wireless/wireless-n-nfiniti/wireless-n-nfiniti-router/
It might work, but for the money I would want to see that logo before I purchased.

Not the model listed above, but the do make a DUAL radio 11n Draft router. Don't recall the model number. There are problems with all Dual radio at this time. When both are active you take a good hit in speed. http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/ has a review on them.
