    Hi there
Me and a friend are trying to hook up a LAN game in our residency dorm but havent been successful at it. We've tried updating the patch, tried with a cross ethernet line and other stuff but haven got it to work. Can anyone suggest anything that might be the source of the trouble we are having of not being able to connect to a lan game
    Very much appreciate your help
    Thank you

if there is a way, set NFS to use a specific port on the LAN. Then reconfigure you're firewalls to allow traffic through the port. I had the same problem with UT2k4 and some file sharing apps until I did this.

You might also consider using the dorm rooms ethernet ports (I'm assuming the room has two here). As long as one of you sets up the server, the other should probably see it. Again, you might need to configure the firewall.

Last ditch senario would be to buy a cheap router (doesn't need to be wireless), and connect through that. I've had nothing but trouble with cross ethernet lines and networking.

    Hope that helps!

How do I config so that theres a specific port for the LAN?

We each have our own dorm rooms so we have two ethernet lines.

As well, when I used the cross ethernet cable, I was able to see the name on the server, but when I tried to connect, his side says that ther "LAN connection was lost" and we are not able to play. When I am in my own room and connect via the ehernet cable for internet online, I am not able to see the server that he created
    Thanks for any responses
