I have been experiencing a very frustrating problem. I have a wireless DSL network set up with 2 laptops, and LAN connected PC. The wireless part of this network works flawlessly....connections always on, and have never droppped a connection. However, the LAN connected PC experiences frequent disconnects, then re-connects just as quickly. Sometime I can go for an hour or so, other times it seems to disconnect every 5 minutes or so. I right click on the internet connection icon, and repair the connection, and then am back in business. I have replaced the network card, the cable, and even returned the router. Same thing happens. The LAN PC is a Dell Dimension with XP...my wireless laptops are Apple iBook and PowerMac. I have established a 64 bit WEP security.....When the PC connection is on it runs great...wireless is flawless. Is there some way to diagnois what is going on? Do I have to change a setting in XP??? This on and off connection is driving everyone in the household crazy. Any advice would be appreciated.

First off, update the firmware on the router and the driver for the Ethernet card. Assuming that doesn't work, it might be an IP conflict. Try giving your PC a dedicated IP in the router and TCPIP settings on the machine.

Actually, I think my brother had this router and I believe he had similar issue with his router via wired connection. I believe it came down a formware problem, but at the time my brother had it, DLink didn't have an updated firmware available, so he returned the unit and got a Linksys.
