I just bought Sony s-560 and using it right now.I'm so happy with this but I have a problem. I bought Netgear Router(wgr-614) but it doesn't work for my desktop computer. I plugged in and plugged out like 10000 times and having a headache for 4 hours. It's killing me. I'm so curious about Router doesn't work for my desktop but work for my laptop. Is it possible? It really giving me sick. I'm using wireless internet with that router right now. but I can't go online with my desktop.
On my desktop control panel, Network Connections says Local Area connection is "Connected" but I can't go online. I used provided CD but it doesn't work and showing that

    Network Adapter Problem
The network adapter in this computer is not responding.
You must use the Installation Assistant on a computer with a working Ethernet adapter
    Please help me out!

Did you have the desktop plugged directly into a cable / DSL modem? You may have been using a crossover cable for this, which may not work with the router. Check the cable for any labeling that suggests it may be a crossover, or X-over.

I would think to try to swap routers. You should be able to swap the old one for a new one. My advice to get a linksys. They havent been any trouble to me, the thing bad is there set up and you just have to know what your doing.

I am not sure I understand this right. If you plug the desktop directly to the cable/dsl modem, it works?
Is the desktop set to use DHCP, or does it have a static IP? Perhaps you set it to use static IPs when you used it as stand-alone without the router?

Yes, thats a very common problem. I think it is with the router the. Did you ever try the firmware and the drivers? Or Disabling the firewall? Or disable security?

I have the same router and plugging an ethernet into the router works.

I don't need to install anything, all I need is a ethernet from the router to any desktop and its automatically connected...

It's either the firmware or the router has a faulty wired connection..
