I just hooked up my new linksys router. The desktop comp which originaly had the internet works just fine. I'm trying to get the internet working on my HP laptop as well, but I'm having no luck. There is a connection between the router and laptop, but when i open up IE, i get the "this page cannot be displayed" page. This question probably has more to do with setting up a connection than with the router itself. Does anyone have any tips?

Check on the routers support site (from a comp with internet of course) and have a look at your IP settings? if that doesnt work do a factory reset and start from stratch?

Call Tech support at Linksys- I had to yesterday because my wireless access point was affected by theweather and I didn't know how to reset it- they helped me in about 10 minutes- very helpful tech support

Do you have any kind of firewall running on the laptop? Can you see the desktop on the network? Check your TCP/IP settings to make sure it is configured to receive an IP address automatically. Don't place your router by your computer or cordless phone, and don't place it behind anything. Make sure you have the latest driver for the card and update the firmware on the router, if possible. Good Luck.

    Thanks for all the replies.

I went to the Linksys website and went into one of their chatrooms. It took 35-40 min, but they talked me through the process and I can gladly say that my laptop now works fine.

This message is more of a kudos to Linksys than it is to update you on my situation. I was really pleased with the service.
