    Hi guys!

    Ok, i dont know if this is the right place to post this....but feel free to move it if its not moderators :)

    this is about my Broadband Internet connection/company/issue.
    My ISP for broadband internet is The Blue Zone....well thats what they call themselves ( www.thebluezone.com). They offer wireless internet, meaning that there are no wires required to connect to the internet expect for the one connected to that 'thing' they put on my roof. Now, i think that they offer good prices for their "services".
    256K Connection for $15+$5 equipment rental+tax=$22
    512K Connection for $20+$5 equipment rental+tax=$28
    1MB Connection for $30+$5 equipment rental+tax=$38

    now that may (the main point is 'may') seem cheap....but here is the catch:
    they have a certin 'bandwidth limit' for each level of connection.

    256K=4GB/Month (Upload and Download)
    512K=6GB/Month (Upload and Download)
    1MB =10GB/Month (upload and Download)

    and $5 extra overcharge for each 1GB that you exceed.

    do you guys think these limits are fair? i mean that no other broadband internet company that i know has limits.
    Come on! i cant even download game demos....or prettymuch anything.
    I/we pay $38 each month for internet that has limits!!!! and when i want to download something....it exceeds the limits set by this stupid company and they charge $5 !!!!!
    in my opinion this is NOT fair! i mean come on! only 10GB each MONTH??!! thats nothing! it should be atleast 14GB or better....unlimited (like many other companies!).

    This is NOT fair.....
    they are taking 'advantage' of the fact that we dont have DSL in our area.

    so here is my delema:
    should I/we switch to Comcast Highspeed internet? its $30/month and has unlimited internet access.

    I'd go with Comcast.

    The wireless ISP sounds neat, but I wouldn't be able to live with the bandwidth limit. We have a bandwidth limit when hooked up the school server at my university- no one account may exceed 4GB upload or download per week, otherwise the account is suspended until the next Monday. I can barely handle 4GB upload/download per week, so per month would be insane.

    I would just get the Comcast and not worry about paying for restrictions.

    I think that is bull. I personally use my internet for all sorts of things, one of them being downloads. If you think of it this way, lets say u want the windows vista beta that was released by microsoft....and lets say the whole download is 3GB (i dont really know how big it is) you would only have 1GB left if you were to go with the 256K connection speed. Also, if you play any games online you would also be reduceing that amount considerably. I know for me i can easily go through over 4GB a day downloading linux distros on DVD and such.... Also, a 256K connection is O-K for 22 bucks, but why not spend the 30 bucks a month and get unlimited access.

    I go through Time Warner's "RoadRunner" which costs about 150 bucks, but its bundled with my cable and phone services, so its well worth it....

    In short: GO WITH COMCAST, THE OTHER PEOPLE ARE A RIPOFF!!

    You chose the company...you don't have the right to say it's fair or not, but you do have the right to change service.

    Man...

    Switch to Comcast ASAP. Here, i'm stuck with a miserable 256kb/s DSL connection. Of course, there's also a traffic limit of 12Gb per month. To make things even worse, the fee is 130$. I wouldn't consider that unfair... it's daylight robbery! :mad:

    I could upgrade to a 512kb/s connection, though, if i were willing to pay 200$.
    I guess that's what happens when there's just one ISP. Monopole, anyone?

    So do it. Switch now. At least you can. :(

    Cheers.

    ok i/we have chosen.............we ARE switiching TO COMCAST :mad: :mad:

    comcast would seem to meet your needs better than the wireless. In most areas comcast offers 4-6 MB service. You can also get a discount for combining your internet with video service to save money. In a few markets, comcast is about to change to Time Warner, even better bargain. GL

    If this is indeed the case, then it is illegal on their part (thebluezone) I'm pretty sure what they have done is either notified you true e-mail (probably one of those e-mails you thought was junk and just deleted) or just slipped a small flier in one of your older statements notifying you of the change.

    Switch to Comcast if you're not happy. They are a really big provider. Even with their crappiest service, I think you will be more than happy.
