I am using Oultook Exchange in my home office.
I have a DELL Latitude docked and I have my cable wire going into my Linksys WTR160n and then that is connected to my docking station.

For some reason, just having the cable run through the router, is causing me to haver terrible connectivity problmes with exchange (this is when wired; wifi is OFF).

However, when i unplug form the router and plug the cable wire directly into my laptoon and/or the docking station, the problmes go away.

Something is slowing my internet connection when going through my router.

    Any ideas?

Inspect the router ports for damage
Try a different set of cables between modem-router and router-laptop
Reset the router's firewall to defaults
Check your laptop's ethernet power-saving settings - don't let it shut off the network adapter.

see if any of that helps.

No damage to any of the ports.
    Brand new cable being used.
Firewall; its currently enabled and its "filtering annonymous internet requests" and "filtering IDENT Port 113". All other are unchecked. Should this firewall be disabled?

Finally, how and where do i change the ethernet power saver settings?

Brand new cable doesn't mean it's good. I've bought plenty of things brand new that didn't work and had to be returned. Try a different one.

Leave the firewall on. Unsure on the filters, I don't know how Exchange is configured for home offices.

Ethernet power settings are in the adapter, wherever you find it. Could be the device manager, could be under network connections, or a couple other places.

Well, my compuetre was on "Power Saver" as I was using it wirelessly around the house yesterday when running low on batt. power.
    Could that have done it?

Its back on "High Performance" now.

I cant seem to find the ethernet power settings anywhere.

edit: found the power management tab in the device manager. Ive unchecked it. will this drain my battery when using the laptop undocked?
