I think this wireless card is pretty shoddy at performance sometimes. What are your opinions? Should I just disable this poo and buy a USB higher-quality card?

mines worked fine in windows xp but in vista everytime i start up my pc it takes about half a minute after loading all the applications for the wireless card to connect to the internet. im hoping its just a driver problem but other then that my performance in windows xp was fine.

I'm always getting random disconnects that have just started recently. The strength will be excellent and yet my downloads are <100kb/sec.

I can hardly play CSS anymore.

Thinking about another reformat or something.

WRT54G latest firmware updated. I can go days without problems with the 3945 and then 1-2 days are just awful connection issues: low signal strength, etc etc.

    Only with the 3945ABG though.

I know this is a really remedial suggestion...did ya double check the power & x-mit settings on the card? While looking maybe check the all the settings to see if something suffered spontaneous reset syndrome. ;)

Worst case...crack the case and check that none of the antenna cables worked lose? Maybe even re-seat the card while you are in there.

I have the same card but mine has only been in use for a couple months though it was made early last year.

EDIT: I did some more reading and I found a handful of pages where the latest XP update (I think it was last week sometime) foobar'd something. Haven't read any solutions yet or that is specific to the Intel card...worth investigating though.

Yeah, I did the power and X-mit thing and some days no matter where I go I just get crappy slow connections.

    No virus, spyware either.

I dunno -- maybe I'll just hang myself

could just be the card is dying? Got access to another card that will fit?
