First of all my laptop wifi is working perfectly. My internet is 50mb/s or thats what I pay for lol ( i get 21mb/s... yeah third world internet). On my download speed I get capped 5mb/s never goes lower or higher. The newer intel wifi card is around 30 dollars so it is pretty cheap. But im probably going to get same results as my 7260 card

    You just reasoned through yourself....

With speeds like that it won't really matter unless ur having problems.

@Teejo Watermelon it is worth upgrading only if you get 8265 very cheap (<$15) and will be able to sell your 7260 for a higher price locally. Otherwise, wait for a card that brings more meaningful improvements.

What do you mean by meaningful improvements? Im going to change cities soon, and Im trying to hire a 300mb/s internet service (but its crazy expensive 99 dollars per month). I`ll have to wait and see if the 7260 can handle it.

@Teejo Watermelon by meaningful improvement I mean 802.11ax and/or 802.11ad support; maybe something of interest will show up earlier than 802.11ax introduction - but I doubt it.

How do you know you have 21mb/s internet speed if your download speed is 5mb/s. Does speedtest show 21mb/s? Also download speeds are recorded in MB/s (megabyte per second) not mb/s (megabit per second) in most apps. You're getting 650KB/s?

BTW I have 75mb/s which is around 9MB/s. I get the full speed. However, most servers don't allow me to download at speeds higher than 1 or 2 MB/s. They limit the speed per connection. To overcome this limitation, you need a download manager (such as this). It attempts to establish multiple connections. I get the full speed this way. Note that it doesn't work on everything as some downloads have one source and that source limits the number of connections to 1. This is common with file hosting sites with premium subscription.

Think it was steam that showed a capped 5MB/s download on a game. On apps like utorrent I get 2MB/s download speeds. On mega I also get 2MB/s

5MB/s is 40mb/s which is just slighly less than your ISP's advertised 50mb/s speed. There is no issue with your internet speed.

Utorrent is peer-to-peer. It depends on the the seeders and these seeders (who are consumers like us) don't have high upload speeds and/or limit the upload speed to avoid congestion. You have to be lucky to even get 2MB/s on most torrents.

Mega will not work with the download manager I posted. They force the download through the browser. You need a special download manager called JDownloader. This download manager is dedicated for file hosters. I can download at max speed from Mega with it.
