Your cell phone will work over an 802.11a/b/g network? There are ways to do it, but usually they're pretty complex. I'm not sure how you'd do it in Windows. Either way, best bet is to google it.

I think your phone has to be able operate at 802.11a/b/g frequencies. In addition, to operate over a wireless network, I believe it has to have TCP/IP or some kind of internet protocol so it doesn't conflict with the router. Of course it'll have internet capabilities, but it probably won't be able to communicate with your router. I highly doubt that today's phones can do that at all.

hello, I am looking for the same thing, i want to create a Wireless access point from my laptop (using Intel pro 3945 ABG) so that i can connect my PSP to my laptop...

Now I have seen some tutorial on youtube
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k69jPfpxosc&mode=related&search=

but it says go to advanced tab in the configure card in properties, but my advanced tab is different, it has some intel options...

WAP on your cell phone != 802.11 A/B/G

WAP on on your cellphone means Wireless Application Protocol, in the simplest terms its the equivilent to HTTP on your computer.

I am not talking about a cell phone ;), I just want to know how to create a Access point, so my PSP can connect directly to my laptop, so i don't need an network..; like at college for example, I have no network at college, but i want to connect my PSP to laptop ;)

anyone know how to do this now?

I can create a Ad hoc network, but my psp can't find it (and it can find my 802.11b network from my wireless rouiter)

If your cell phone has wifi then yes you could use your laptop as an AP or ad hoc to connect to the internet. It will be limited to 11mbps no matter what 802.11 standard you use, as ad hoc is old and hasnt really been updated from the 802.11b days. But it can be done.

Make sure to create an ad hoc network and share the connection you use for the internet and youll be set.

edit: make sure that the lappy is broadcasting in mix or g/b mode as I doubt your psp can see an 802.11a ap. Most handheld wifi is 802.11b and will only see 2.4ghz
