It depends on what wireless card you have.

    Atheros AR9285

I'm willing to buy an external wireless card too if need be. I'd prefer one that goes in the expresscard slot but could do usb too.

You do not have WiDi. you need an Intel NIC along with the IGP for that.

You have to use one of Intel's adapters to use Wi-Di- see here.

    EDIT: ninja tijo

I'm confused. It sounds like I have to get a new laptop since my NIC in my laptop isn't compatible with widi correct?

I can't just buy a new external NIC that plugs into my laptop via USB or expresscard 34 slot? I tried to find an external card that was one of the ones on download's linked list but couldn't.

    Thanks.

For WiDi to work, you need an Intel wireless adapter and a CPU with the Intel Graphics so you'd have to replace the internal adapter if it is possible. That said, i'm sure there are third party alternatives to WiDi.

You don't have to buy a new laptop- just a mini-PCI Express card to replace the Atheros.
    It's easy and cheap.

Can you provide me with a link to a mini-PCI express card? I'm not exactly sure what that is. The Coupon link seemed to bring me to a website with a bunch of products on it.

    Thanks.

And thanks for the links baiii. I looked at wirelessHD instead of widi but all the adapters seem so bulky or expensive. Couldn't find an answer to my question on the widi link.

I'm not very computer savy so don't have a clue how easy it is to replace my wireless adapter. I'll open up the back of my notebook this weekend and take a look to see if I can figure things out. Hopefully I don't destroy my laptop in the process but oh well, it'll be a good learning experience :).

Thanks a lot. This is certainly a great fix if possible.

Look on Samsung's website, maybe they have some sort of manual for a partial disassembly.
