Hey everyone, I have been having some Internet troubles lately. Here is how I have things set up:

Comcast Cable -> Modem -> Wireless Linksys Router

I only have one ethernet cable from the router, and it goes to my Xbox 360, and I have 3 wireless laptops running off of the router.

It has been happening recently in the past few days, but before that, nothing. I will be on the internet, then the page will take forever to load, and then my Vista Internet icon will show that lovely little yellow triangle, telling me I have low, or no connection.

I will go in the room, reset the modem and router by unplugging them, then plugging them back in after 30 seconds or so, and it will work again, until it decided to drop again.

I just bought the router about 4-6 Months ago, I'm not sure what the name is on hand, but if you need to know, I can look. So I am pretty sure that's not the problem, but I don't wanna rule anything out.

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is?

I was thinking that the next time it dropped, I would unplug the router all together, then just run the ethernet cable from the modem to my laptop, and see if I get connection that way. If I do, I would assume its the router, if not, then its Comcast.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Well now my issue has taken a turn to my own computer as it seems. The Internet dropped again, but when I went to check on it, my other Laptop that is in the same room at the router (only 1 room over) was working fine, browsing the internet.

Now I have a feeling it is my computer.

Anyone have any suggestions on what i can do?

That would be a good idea...and leave it hooked up for a while to see if it disconnects!

How many computers are having this issue?

What OS are these computers running? Which ones disconnects?

Did you make any changes to the Router recently?

    Just mine it seems.
Mine and one other Vista, the one in the same room as the router is XP.
Nope, have not messed with anything network wise in a long time. Just out of the blue one day.

NOTE: It dropped again for my laptop, but not the one in the room with the router. So I reset it, and took the ethernet cable from my 360 and am now using it on my laptop. When it used to drop, it would do it Wirelessly with my computer, and it would not also let me use the ethernet cable aswell. But now it seemes to be working, but I have yet to unplug the ethernet and try it wireless.

Will keep this thread notified, am switching to wireless now.

Ok, so I just tried to use my laptop wirelessly, and no go. I can only get Internet if I use my ethernet cable from my router to my laptop. But my other computer that runs off wireless running xp works fine.

I tired to delete the connection, and create a new one. I tried re-entering my Network Key and nothing. I have not changed anything with my wireless card or the wireless setting before, this just started to happen in the past few days.

So the other .Vista machine having this issue; is it being used?

I'm starting to think that your network card might either be failing or needs a driver update.

Or maybe the computer received some type of recent change in its configuration; maybe a Windows Update, or some other program update ran in the background and screwed up things...idk...but a System Restore might be a cure as well.

Well the other Vista machine is not having problems. And I don't think my network card if failing, because it is a new machine, and it connects and runs fine at my school's wireless internet.

I guess the only thing I can do is a System restore, upsets me though cause I got Rainmeter all working, and got a nice new theme all done. Guess I will have to re-do it all, lol.

Yea I know what u mean....type rstrui in the search box on the start menu and go back in time.

You might want to create a restore point as is..so in case it doesn't fix it and you want to go back to your rainmeter and theme etc. u can restore back to it.

Ya, just restored it to 5 days later (The date after I installed Microsoft Project and Viso for school, the Internet was working fine at this time)

And it's a no go, about 5 minutes later, that fun little yellow triangle showed up on my Internet, telling me I have low or no connection.

I'm not show boating, but I know my way around a network, but honestly this one has me completely passed me.

The Internet is working for other computers on the network, its only my laptop, the wireless card works fine at my schools wireless Internet, if I use my ethernet cable running from my Router, and use it on my laptop, it seems to work, the Wireless Internet will work for a short time on my laptop, but then soon bug out, restore 5 days later does not work.

I am at a complete loss, and that does not happen alot.

Just updated my drivers for my wireless card, and now it says that I am connected with "Excellent" strength, rather than "Good" as it was before. So I'm not sure if it has fixed it or not, so Fingers Crossed!!
