I'm in an apartment that has cable internet and i use the wifi. The first 2 months, i rarely had any issues besides a few random disconnects where i connect back and its working perfectly.

Few days ago, the electricity went out for close to 2 days. Then once electricity came back, internet worked as well but the thing is the wifi seems to have lot of issues. Some times it would work but then many hours it wouldn't so i have to connect to the internet using my iphone by tethering it as a hot spot. Im also out of the usa at the moment so data here is very expensive so i dont watch youtube or anything like that when tethering the internet.

Is there a way to find out why my internet wifi is behaving like this? The thing is i'm wondering could it be something with my laptop itself because i have had issues with it last few days. I also seen the so called blue screen... i had never seen that before with this laptop ever. Had this happen multiple times as well. Each time it does, i let it load then i restart it to safe mode... then restart it to regular mode.

The thing is i connect to the router by wired internet at the moment so i only use the wifi. However right now im not sure 100 percent if this is an internet problem or it could possibly be my laptop but i lean heavily for it to my cable internet. Is there a way to find out? Also i can connect to the wifi and it will show the 5 bars even when i can't visit sites etc.

Also the IP address has changed as well so i guess the electricity going out and coming back could have caused this? The other thing that im wondering if it could be i connected to a wifi network but that shouldn't be it right?

I thought about another thing. My computer has crashed many times within the last few days. It had the blue screen of death many times. So i would just restart it each time. I also have the looking for available socket many times as well.

On my iphone, the wifi seems to be better than on my laptop though but i definitely notice it still is slow just not as slow as laptop. Could the blue screen of death be a factor in this or not? The thing is when i used my data plan on my iphone, the internet was very fast so that means this isn't the issue then?

You need to be more specific - what actually happens when you can't use internet but stay connected to Wi-Fi?
Do you get limited connectivity, check the control panel and see if you still have the same IP, gateway IP and so on.

This might be related to either your computer having issues or Wi-Fi itself - impossible to tell at this point.

When was the last time you did a fresh clean installation of the operating system.

    Which OS?
    Which Notebook?
    Which Wireless Card?Driver Version?Advanced Settings?
    Which Router?Settings?
    Which Band?
    How far from router?Walls?Floors?

Have you run sfc /scannow from administrator command prompt?

I'm in mexico. I'm using ubee router
Not sure. But before this... internet was very fast. Cablemas internet
Its about 10 feet from router? Router is right outside my door to my studio apt... its placed in the wall at the top. I have to put a chair there and stand on it to reach the router.

I don't know what that is.

It always shows 5 bars for the wifi. Before this, wifi was great. Its just last 2 days or so its been very slow and doesn't work. Gmail and yahoo mail basically i can't even send email. Few days ago electricity went out for few days. Then when it came back, ip address got changed as well though i read that is normal.

IntelĀ® Iris Pro 5200 Graphics is not a Wi-Fi card (as the name implies) though.

It's a shared community router(administered by building owner/super/IT guy) that you don't have access to it's settings?

Does your notebook have the Realtek RTL8192C Wireless 802.11 B/G/N + BT 4.0

    BSOD:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff559221(v=vs.85).aspx

    Official Realtek WLAN drivers
    http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...277&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true

    Download driver @ station drivers
    http://www.station-drivers.com/inde...ireless-Lan-Drivers-Version-2023.1.1201.2014/

Uninstall the Wireless Card and driver/settings>Reboot> then install new driver

Download new driver while you have Internet connection and put it on a USB flash drive before uninstalling the card and driver.

I just power off and power it on...

Okay so internet didn't work most of the day. I had to use my data internet to play online. However... i then tried to use the wifi on my iphone and it worked without any issue at all. Does that mean this is my laptop then?

Earlier both the wifi didn't work on laptop and my iphone. The thing is i don't really mind about the wifi on iphone since most of the things i do is on laptop. So right now im thinking its something with my laptop now.
