I have a Intel Wireless 4965agn wireless card on my dell notebook. Seem to have a few problems.

    1. it says problems applying profiles: how rebooting works for a day and then this issue comes up again.

    2. Most of the times it does not find the wireless network, even though I am sitting close to it. have other notebooks connecting to the wireless router fine without any issues.

    I have a dlink router.

any suggestions or idea will be of help.

Are there any alternative drivers you could try? The 4965agn card is fairly new, so there may be driver fixes once in a while.

Under your advanced port settings you should beable to force it to g or n only.

Also turn off IP6 this helps some times since there are really no networks requiring it.

Are you on Vista or XP? Are you using a connection manager of some sort or Windows Wireless Zero?
