I recently purchased an HP ENVY 15 that comes with the Intel Advanced-N 6200 wireless network card. Upon purchase, I did not update the driver, and when I started streaming videos on YouTube, I noticed that the streaming speeds were extremely slow. Note that this is not a router or internet speed problem, as I have a 6 Mb/s connection, which while isn't the fastest out there, is fast enough for streaming HD videos. Also, using two other laptops, I can stream 720p or 1080p videos without a hitch (it usually streams at a rate four times faster than I can view the video).

Therefore, I opted to update the driver for my 6200, which worked for a good two days. However, I notice that now, two days after updating the driver, I am experiencing the same slow streaming speeds. I tried to update it again to the newest, but I still experience the same speeds.

    Help, anyone?

    just to verify

do you get full speed when wired in?
are you competing with other computers on your network?
have you checked your power saving settings?
are you far from the router?

Do a speed test and a ping test:
Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
Pingtest.net - The Global Broadband Quality Test
Test several times and see if the results are consistent.

I'm not familiar with your wifi adapter, but a lot of adapters have some kind of power saving mode -- cuts the wifi power completely if the network connection is idle or at least reduce the power.
So go into advanced wifi adapter settings and disable such mode
(usually in Device Manager, right click your wifi adapter, then "Properties", "Advanced" tab)

To the above two posters, it is not a connection problem nor a settings problem. I think I might have an idea of what the problem is, mainly that I had installed Tune-Up Utilities. It probably changed with some of my computer's settings, I just do not know how to revert back...

EDIT: The problem has been resolved. Thank you all.
