    Hi,

I just bought a Sony Vaio CS-17G with Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100 Network Adapter.

I primarily use the notebook at my home & office network.
    Home Network Router: Linksys WRT54G
Office Network Router: Beetel 450BXi (ADSL2+Modem)

The issue am facing is while am on to the network (mostly home network) suddenly it goes into limited connectivity & gets disconnected; while other PC's remain connected.

And then you have to either re-install the Wireless LAN driver or re-start numerous times.

This has been happening regularly. Pls assist in resolving the issue.

    download latest intel drivers

Then, In Network and Sharing center, choose wireless connections and remove them.

Next in device manager, uninstall the current wireless adapter, choosing to remove the drivers by checking the box in the confirmation dialogue box (if the check box exists--sometimes it does not)

Now, install the latest drivers from Intel for your wireless card, not the ones that came with the laptop.

    Set up new connection

    Thanks gerryf19 for your reply.

Updating the driver was the first thing that came to my mind.

The driver's latest version available at the website is 12.2.0.0. Intel Driver for 5100

But when I visited Intel's website for the same, they (Intel) themselves advised to stick to the drivers provided by the Laptop Manufacturer.

Do you think they can conflict?

they will not conflict, no. Will it be better? I don't know. You can roll back if you need to.

OEM drivers often are way out of day.

I would try that as the first step

Before updating the drivers, found this:

    http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-006205.htm

This is a known issue with Intel Network Adapters caused because of the Power-Save Polling mode in the notebooks.

Set my notebook per the settings & till now it looks to be working fine. :D

Had contacted Sony Vaio Support on this even they were unable to assist. ;)

I´m on the same boat. Sony gives an update(12.2.0.11) at their support page but it seems to be faulty because drivers remain the same(12.0.0.73). It does not update at all. I´ve uninstalled the older ones and installed the new ones (12.2.0.11) from Intel and now it seems to be fine.Sony support was not able to help at all. Shame on Sony!
