My Gateway 1430U (Accer 1810TZ) comes with Intel Wifi 1000 mini-PCI card. If I want to upgrade to a faster card, would it be the Intel Wifi 5100? I understand 5300 is the best card for laptops but it requires a 3rd antenna which the 1000 does not have? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Intel 5100 is a poor performer so don't use it. Intel 5300 would be a good choice indeed- it does work with three antennas for three spatial streams (up to 450mbps) or with two for up to 300mbps- it doesn't require three antennas.
Intel 6200 would also be a good choice although there are a lot of fakes now so be careful choosing a vendor.

So would 5300 or 6200 be best for 2 antenna connection? My only concern with 5300 is it is older than 6200 as it have an earlier draft-N spec?

EDIT: I went to fleabay and bought 5300... can't lose for $18... :)

Does the 6200 only come in a half pci card?

Finally got the card (shipped from Singapore) and installed it. Looks like it's a used card they pulled off a Dell (as per ebay detailed description). Needed to manually install driver on win7 x64 which is fine.
