I am looking at a laptop which has 3 wi-fi options.

    Integrated Built in 802.11 A/B/G/N Wi-Fi Card
Integrated Built in Intel 6200 Advanced-N WiFi Link [+$25.00]
Integrated Built in Intel Centrino 6300 A/B/G/N Ultimate-N WiFi Link [+$35.00]

What is the difference between the 802.11 A/B/G/N Wi-Fi Card and the Intel Centrino 6300 A/B/G/N Ultimate-N WiFi Link?

The 6200 has advertised top connection speeds of 300Mb/s, while the 6300 has advertised 450Mb/s. The ultimate N 6300 won't work at 450Mb/s unless you have a MIMO capable router with N capability. Oh and the regular N card is probably a Broadcom or Atheros chipset card with 150/300Mb/s speeds.

It's not enough that the router is MIMO and 802.11n. It has to be 450mbps router and as of now there are only two of those- D-Link DIR-665 and Trendnet TEW-691GR both of which are slower than 300mbps Netgear WNDR3700.

My router is D-Link DIR-615. And My ISP limits speeds depending on which package you're paying for. Their top tier advertises 50 mbps, nowhere near the speeds you guys are talking about.

So, it's probably not worth it to upgrade the wireless card then...

The only REAL advantage to N is for file sharing between computers. I don't know of any ISP that offers a 300MB/s.
