Hi, I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to post about my problem seeing as bluetooth isn't listed under networking and wireless. Anyway, I swapped out my old wifi card for an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230. The wifi part of it works fine, but the bluetooth part does not. It can add and pair with devices fine, but for some reason I cannot get it to receive files from my Xperia Arc. My Arc keeps saying that the file could not be sent, and my PC is utterly silent as though it never received a file in the first place. The bluetooth worked with my previous wifi card (AR9002WB-1NG) which has integrated bluetooth as well. When I pair my Arc with my computer, a device called 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device" shows up in Device Manager but it has no drivers installed. Reinstalling the Intel bluetooth package does not work and I'm very sure the wires of the wifi card are seated correctly. Any help is much appreciated.

The only suggestion I have in this situation is to keep trying. It could be a bluetooth security problem. Add your device again as if it was a new device and see if this helps.

You need to set up a COM port first

A com port sounds right. I am so used to setting things up I did not consider that someone else might not think of this part of the setup for other devices. I use my bluetooth for audio stereo and syncing with my Palm handheld. I even put a Widcomm version on so the A2DP and AVRCP protocols would be there because the Microsoft stack that loaded when I upgraded to 7 was lacking in this.

I did add a COM port, it says COM7, direction: incoming but has no name. I cannot configure it at all, and receiving files still don't work.

You may want to try to setup a PPP connection. There used to be several applications for this. I use bluetooth to hotsync listen to internet radio and download books with my Palm handheld through the connection with my laptop. The only way I can do this is with a PPP connection. I use a program called m-Router for doing this.
Another thing you might try is look for a forum where people with your same phone or like have setup the type of connection you are attempting.
