Hi guys. Im at the end of my wick regarding my new Intel 9260 card so hoping someone can help
Basically, I am unable to cast my desktop and all Chrome tabs from my pc to my tv through my Chromecast (2nd gen). The video loads up on the screen but then freezes instantly with the sound continuing fine
I literally took out the card and replaced it with my old 8265 and that works fine (exact same router settings) so Im thinking its a card issue
But heres the hitch - i am able to use the 9260 to stream youtube from my laptop to pc. Why would this work and not a screen cast?
I have tried every setting I can think of, both on the card and my router (Billion 8900ax) with no joy
Hope someone can help as this may be a problem for those getting the same card (along with the Killer 1550 as they both use the same hardware)

Casting the desktop is a lot less reliable than a single app or tab (e.g. stream a youtube video on the Chromecast). My understanding is that part of this is that the Chromecast can fetch the data it needs directly in the latter case (Chromecast connects to YouTube servers and requests stream, without your notebook involved other than starting the process). If you're casting your desktop all of the data needs to stream to your desktop and then get passed along to the chromecast with the desktop feed - a lot more bandwidth needed. Are you getting similar link speeds/speed test scores with both cards? I'm guessing the 8265 is outperforming the 9260, for whatever reason.

my speeds are maxed out on both cards (im about 2ft away from the router so getting the full 866mbps)
What i dont understand is how the 8265 works fine, yet the exact situation fails on the 9260, taking into consideration the 9260 is the newer card. I even tried an older laptop n that worked also
FYI im running the latest driver (20.3) and on Win 10 Pro x64
Lastly, can anyone with a 9260 or killer 1550 try casting a tab, the one i often used is tvplayer.com/cnn -
I have no casting issues (9260ac), only time I had issues was with “Air Time Fairness” enabled on the router but that affected other clients as well since I am pretty sure the Chromecast hates that feature. Additionally not related, but make sure updates are enabled on the Chromecast as a while back there was an issue where Chromecasts would spam routers causing issues.

Are you casting webpages through Chrome ok?
It has to be my card or a setting on the card... just cant figure it out
Thx for the reply -
Quick update: Did a factory reset of Win 10 and then tried to cast, still no joy
Looks like I'm not the only one with this issue though

And did you contact Chrome support team, as suggested by the Intel rep?

Yes but the link is dead (not seen alternative way to get through to support)
Also tried the suggestions reg. disabling hardware acceleration but no joy.
As posted earlier, I dont think its a hardware problem as I can access the internet fine and stream YouTube; any hardware issues would prevent this

@Meddylad Any news on this issue ?
I have exactly the same problem. I replaced my killer wifi card by the intel 9260 in my dell xps 9570 and I have troubleshoot to connect to my chromecast ultra.
After few second, the image freeze but the audio is ok.
It works using a cable rj45 connection. The wifi work perfectly. -
Yes - it was down to the mtu of the wifi adapter
If you change your computer mtu to 1458 it will work
tips on how to change your mtu are here
