I am still investigating some performance issues with the Linux kernel and wifi but have improved performance a bit. I have Linux Mint KDE and by default it uses iwlwifi-7260-12.ucode There is a newer driver out there iwlwifi-7260-13.ucode. Where I was averaging from my routers NAS 4MBs read I now get 6-7 MBs average. Windows 7 sees about 27 MBs or better so there is still a ways to go. I can tell you even the browser is much happier.

It appears the primary issue with performance is the fact that all the old files are NTFS drives. the conversion for Linux is not embedded to the kernel but done on above that level. The driver for doing so is not the greatest. This is really something that will be needed in the future if Windows users are to come over. The other option is to convert their storage to ext4 but that presents its own issues. Especially the fact some router drives may not even be able to do so.
