I currently have the 6250 card from intel. Im thinking of upgrading to the big foot killer. My question is how would i do it if the 6250 has 2 antennas and big foot has three. Is the difference between them that big? where will i see the biggest differences? I know the 6250 has wireless display which is kinda nice.

TBH, I have a 6300, 6250, 6205, 6200, 5300, 5100 and I can hardly tell the difference between them, seems like a waste of money IMO.

Yes but the 6300 can do 450 Mbps if your router supports it. Plus I have yet to run into ANY driver issues with any Intel card, vs Bigfoot drivers...eh.

its is all hype essentially eh? 300 MB per sec is way more then enough for me, im still stuck on DSL internet. I didnt even know internets could go that high... is that like fiber optic cable?

definitely hype! tethering is also very problematic with the bigfoot card!

and seriously, even if it would be better, it would be such a small real world difference, that you wouldnt even notice

its just a relabeled atheros card btw with "better" software that supposely improves your ping

Until something ground breaking comes along there really isn't that much of a difference between all these cards.. pure marketing :)

on another note.. hows intel's wireless display? is it any good?

Well, range and upstream performance are two pretty big differentiations. On 2.4GHz the Killer 1103 is still better but not by much. On 5GHz the 1103 stomps the Intel in most upstream tests.

But yea, unless you'll really be using ALL of your local bandwidth or need extended range... you won't really notice all that much difference between them.

I want to buy another bigfoot 1103 for my other laptop, but it seems to be out of stock everywhere, not only where I live but also in all online european retailers I search. What's happening?

OEM's are snapping up their supply. Alienware is a big one. Then the Atheros equivalent (AR9380) is Apple's main WiFi card in the Mac Pro/iMac/Mac Mini. Atheros is probably just strained to meet demand ATM.

Honestly the only difference is how much bandwidth you are able to carry via wireless. If you are gaming at home, it is best to be wired into your router anyways. Unless you are always out n gaming, the wireless card doesn't really matter.

Precise. Why waste your money on something you won't take advantage of?

Can say its better and the coverage you get from it compared to a 6300 is unbelievable.

    bigfoot 1103 | eBay

The link above shoes 2 sellers in the UK NDC bought from them before but be aware it isnt brand new its a pulled part.

Got mine from america im in the uk installed in my 1640 works like a beast but remember its a 3x3 card, so to get its full performance from it your router much be able to support it 3x3, ie the Asus RT-N66.

It comes with a piece of admin software with the driver which we were totally confused at first we didnt even notice as you need to run this just after you have installed the card. It benchmarks your environment with your wireless network and you can adjust the download and upload bandwidth ratio, you send to your card.

Bigfoot do not officially sell this item as an upgradable item so you have to shop around on eBay for it as a spare part. I checked with Dell and Bigfoot. Ebay is your best bet. Best card out there in the benchmarks!

Or just buy an Atheros AR5BHB112 for less than half the price.

The hardware is identical and the Killer drivers can be used with it if desired.
