    Hi there,

Got my new Intel Wireless 6230 card today and I'm having some problems.

I installed it by doing the following: Turning the computer off, removing the battery, holding power down for 30 seconds to remove any remaining power, then removing the three screws near the battery, prying the keyboard off and unscrewing the wireless card as well as removing the antenna cables.

I did the reverse process for installing the new card, booted up, went into the BIOS and pressed F9 to setup defaults. Once I was in Windows, I plugged in my USB wireless adapter to download the drivers from the Intel site, did that, installed it, restarted, it picked up the adapter and everything but it just refused to find any wireless networks. The wireless LED wasn't even lit. I tried turning it on from the button near the power switch, but it made no difference.

I have managed to get it working by booting up with my old wireless card plugged in, going into standby and plugging the new one in. It works but very poorly, I can't load websites most of the time and it's very slow. This is on 2.4GHz, if I switch it to 5GHz, all is fine. Once I shutdown and start again, it doesn't pick up the wireless.

    What can I do?!

tl;dr - Got a new wireless card, installed it, computer picks it up, can't scan for networks and the wireless LED isn't on. If I plug in my old one, go into standby, install new one, it works but very slow and doesn't work most of the time. Help!

Put cellophane over pin20 to isolate it. That will turn the radio on permanently.

Wow that worked! LED doesn't turn on, but the Wifi works.

However, the performance is worse than of my old Broadcom card. I can't load pages without them timing out, doing a constant ping shows latency times shoot up randomly and requests being timed out. I've noticed if I don't touch anything and leave the ping running, it's fine.

5GHz band on the other hand works perfectly. I'm using the latest drivers.

    Any ideas?
