I'm having problems using the Intel 5300 Wifi Card (driver 12.4.3.9) when I installed Win7 RTM x64. There seems to be connection drops randomly after "hours" of usage and most specifically the connection will drop "surely" if I transfer a file FROM my laptop to any computer in the network.

This problem only happens if I'm connected at N speeds with WPA2-AES encryption (which is needed to connect at N speeds).

This problem DOESN'T happen when I connect with WPA2-TKIP or lower security which in turn drops my connection to 54 Mbps (G speed) only.

I also DIDN'T have any problems when I was using Vista x64.

I searched the net and found that Lenovo users where having problems with this last year but the driver updates, through time, fixed this problem.

So, would this be a problem with driver compatibility with Win7? Since driver 12.4.3.9 is specifically for Vista x64 and is not a Win7 native driver. I tried using the Intel 5300 Native driver that came with Win7 installation, unfortunately same result.

What could be possibly the problem?

    Thanks.

Yes, it is for .exe before full installation. Try it before installing the driver. What it does is gives you more indepth of where and what the install is rather than just 64bit/32bit. Just an idea for that specific driver.

Have you tried unchecking IPv6? When you loose connection is it easy to reconnect easy?
Do you have a second laptop to test this setup just to see if it happens to that laptop.

Ok. I haven't tried unchecking UPv6 but that shouldn't be a problem right?

Yes it is easy to reconnect. What happens is that you will see an exclamation point in the "wireless bars" in the taskbar and it will show that you are still connected in the network (with all IP addresses and all that intact) but other computer and also the router doesn't receive any ping response from this laptop.

When I see this I should disconnect and connect again to solve the problem.

Yes I have a second laptop but it's using Vista x64 and Intel 5100. No problems, I think.

I think it's something about the power management of Win7 x64 with this wifi card and the router itself. But the weird thing is that I also turned off the power management in the properties of the network card and that didn't solve the problem.

Connecting at G speeds produces NO problems at all.

Currently, I'm using the Belkin N1 Wireless router.
