I recently installed a 5300 Intel card into my Dell E6400. I keep getting CODE(10) error which I guess means the driver is messed up. I uninstalled and reinstalled yesterday, and got it to work for a day. But when I came back from dinner, the driver died. So I uninstalled, reinstalled several times again, and then it BLUE SCREENED!!! I used the drivers provided on the Dell website... They seem to be outdated. So I also tried using the latest intel driver and pro manager. I got it to work by installing the Dell, then updating it to the latest pro manager and installing the new driver. But now that no longer works. Any ideas? I think I might return the card. I was using a 1397 card before. I am not sure what is causing the problem. I reinstalled the card several times, could it be the way I put the antennas? I did white on the from left to right it is black, gray then white. With the part where the antennas connect closest to you.

    Also I am running XP SP3, on a E6400, 1GB ram(512mbx2 gonna upgrade), 80 gb 5400 rpm HDD.

Where did you get the 5300 card? I once got the Engineering Sample version from eBay before I finally get the real one. I experienced few hang-ups using the ES one.

Ebay, but it was advertised as a Dell part. Should I just return it? What buyer did you use?

The ES one that I got earlier clearly had an Engineering Sample writing on its label. Back then it was hard to find half-height 5300 card. But now seems like many eBay sellers have the real one from Dell parts. I got both cards from this seller.

The difference that I've noticed with the ES one is that WiFi LED on my Dell Studio 17 was blinking upon wireless traffic.

Mine didn't have the WiFi LED on the whole time. So I guess it is a ES. But it didn't say so on the label. Weird. It looked like a final product sort of like my 1397 card. I guess mine has a fake sticker. I am comparing it to the one I saw on your pictures from the seller aidil recommended.

So you could have gotten it from one of those bad sellers. Would you mind telling us (or at lest give me a PM) the name of the seller?

The i5300 is not compatable with the E6400, it does the same thing with my i9400

Code 10 error means the driver service won't start.
Most likely due to a hardware incompatibility.

If you must have Intel WLAN get a i4965 which will work.
Or get your self a more suitable 11n Card from here

I have documented the i5300 in some posts lower down and have also done some speed tests and reviews of other cards.

Hmm... Are there many types of E6400? If this is Latitude E6400, then 5300 should be compatible with E6400, cause E6400 has the latest generation of Cantiga (intel GM/PM45 express) chipset which would likely be paired with WiFi Link 5300 to be part of Montevina or Centrino 2 platform. And in fact 5300 is one of the wireless card options if you configure E6400 on Dell's Website.
