    What router are you using?

I haven't read about an N router being able to hold a connection for very long at high speeds.

Having said that, if you make sure you're using N-only and not mixed mode, that will be your best bet to improving your speed. Most vendors send out their routers with mixed by default.

File transfer and actual ISP speed connection are two different things indeed, the latest being faster. 140kbps is very low nonetheless, may be your ISP is limiting your throughput, call them.

    Hi
Did I read it right? You have a 4965AGN connecting using the N-protocol of WRT600N ??
I have the same configuration, 2 Dell laptops with 4965AGN and a WRT600N. There is no way I can make them to connect in N mode.
I had chat with Linksys and Dell and they told me there are compatibility issues.
    How did you do it?

    Thanks for the help.

Check the wireless mode in your wireless adapter.

Had this problem - my Intel 4965AGN and the WRT600N had TERRIBLE download speeds (10kb/s-40kb/s). Returned it and got a D-Link DGL-4500, and my download speeds went up to 1mb/s (downloading a file). Speedtest was around 24mbps.
