Lost about 8 processes compared to the set-up using the Intel PROSet Wireless Software. Windows XP now manages the connection.

Processes dropped from around 50 to 41 with just this mod.

I rarely use the wireless, so, whatever "features" I lost, I'm cool with.

iProdifx.EXE is the installer in the Drivers folder after you unzip.

I've thought about doing this as I've noticed the many processes associated with PROSet. I added up the memory alll of the processes were using, it was ~85Mb. Does your Fn+F2 still work to enable/disable wireless?

    Yes, Fn+F2 still works.

Only difference I can tell is that I'm using Windows to access and connect and not the Intel ProSet.

I promise, I went from 50 processes to 40 with just this.

    Uninstall Intel ProSet.

    Install driver only.

    That's it.

ok I just did it an lost 4 services. But there does seem to be a significant amount of RAM freed up. I had been sitting at ~310 used previously on a fresh boot and now at 271. So I think its worth it an personally I like keeping things as simple as possible and just using windows to control the wireless anyway. Thanks for the link.

edit: oh ya I uninstalled, restarted then installed just the driver.

I'm going to move this over to the wireless/networking forum. This is good information for all users who have intel 3945 cards.
