Are there any new features (asside from the ability to access 802.11a networks - which I don't need since I don't have any such networks to access) that would make it worth upgrading to the 2915abg?

P.S. I checked the intel website and couldn't find anything new.
P.P.S. I'm going to be using this in my new Z71v

hmm... not that I know of. I think it's more for Sonoma bragging rights.

I've had issues with the Intel 2200 and certain AP's before. Specifically the hotspots provided by Yahoo BB. When I switched to a Proxim Gold Cardbus card, it works fine. I've heard this issue reported elsewhere. So upgrading may serve more than providing you access to A based networks.
