As you know, the beloved Intel 2200B/G card has been nothing but trouble for users. If you have an issue, then check below first, at the suggested things to do, in order for your card to connect with your own network.

Check out the previous 2200B/G Issue thread: Here This thread is an update to it, since it is outdated, and there is a lot of complaining about the card in that thread, i can't blame you. :)

Im sure, right out of the box, your brand new computer will recognize your card. If it doesn't, the latest driver will usually fix this at least, but sadly - wont fix everything.

Are all wireless cards like this?

Not at all! If this is your first wireless card, and are new to wireless, dont think that this is the same for everycard. I have never a wireless card this bad. Buying a new Atheros card might be your best option, or even a new Intel 2915A/B/G card. You may think the 2915 card will be the same as this, since its an Intel wireless product, but its not at all- it works very well.
If you really want a great wireless card, Atheros are my top pick. If you are interested in buying an Atheros card, click Here

So i have a new 2200B/G, But i cant connect!

Your router and card need to work togethor. This is where Firmware and Drivers get involved.
The first thing you can do is go to your routers website ( www.linksys.com, www.netgear.com, www.dlink.com, etc...) You can look for "Downloads & Support", or just a "Firmware & Drivers". Just simply choose the router off of the list, and install the firmware. It does not change anything with your settings, it just updates the router itself, making it up-to-date.
If this doesn't work, then you need to get those dreaded drivers.

I still can't connect, i need new drivers!

Well new isn't always the case. The newest driver might start working with your card, but there is a good chance it wont. Which means, you need to try other drivers for your card. This is where it can start getting fustrating, so good luck if your having issues.

    Drivers

You can search the Intel site yourself, by going Here

    Intel Driver 10.1.0.3
    Intel Driver 9.0.4.0
    Intel Driver 9.0.3.0

    Other things to try
You can try to remove the Intel PROset on your computer by going into the control panel, and add/remove programs. This has been reported to fix the problems. If you get rid of it, and want it back, you can simply download it again by going through google, and searching for it.

So give the things i stated a try, and if you find anything that works for you, please post it/PM me and ill add it quickly
    Thanks!

Sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree on this being a bad card. I've used two of em, one in my old HP DV4000 and one in my current Toshiba M55. Both have given me no problems whatsover and have performed quite well. I had an Atheros B/G card in my old Fujitsu Lifebook which performed just as well as these Intel cards.

Well rahul, your router is probaly up to date, and you had the correct drivers when you installed it.

For about 1/2 - 3/4 of people that have the card, they have trouble

2200B/G is absolute garbage. Yes it "almost" works with routers that have patched firmware, but when you go to your school or university or any public hot spot, chance of those being patched is quite slim.

I almost threw my VAIO against the wall the other day at school. The **** thing will not hold the connection for over 30 seconds. So now I just bring my busted old toshiba which has the atheros in it. That thing has never dropped a connection in its entire life. When I have time I will swap the cards out.

Even with patched routers the 2200BG has a dumb tendancy to throttle itself from 54Mbps to 48, 40, 32 etc untill it is at like 8mbps. Even with power saving options turned off. Lastly it still loves to drop the connection once every few hours just for the hell of it.

I have dealt with 4 2200BG cards personally. All 4 exibited same issues within the first 30 minutes of use. How did these ever get out into the public without being fixed at the factory at the design stage is beyond me.
