I have an Inspiron 9400 on my hands equipped with a Intel 3945 Wireless internal card.

Here is my problem: I cannot acquire a network address from any network, period. I can succesfully connect wired however.

The intel utility claims there is a DHCP server issue, but I checked both my routers and they are fine. Also, everyone else in my office can connect wirelessly without the same issues.

I have already installed the most up-to-date drivers for this machine.

A funny thing, really, because I had the same problem with a Dimension D830. I was eventually told by Dell to just format the drive, reinstall Windows, and reinstall the drivers. That worked. On a second machine, same model, the same solution did not work.

I am hesitant to try that solution on this machine as well. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have the e1705 with the 3945 and have never experienced any problems. Please provide complete details on the operating system you use, if you did a fresh install and installed all of the required drivers yourself, exactly what error messages you get, and if the router security settings match your wireless security settings on your machine.

Getting the exact error message would be helpful. Also, have you tried not using the Intel utility? To disable it, right click the icon in the tray at the bottom right and chose to use Window$ utility. You will then have to enable the Wireless Zero service. To do this, go to your start menu and click Run. Type "services.msc". A window will open up and you will want to scroll all the way down to the bottom and find the one called Wireless Zero and right click on it and enable and/or start it. That may help. I have found on dozens of occasions that the Window$ utility works much better. Hope that helps.
