I have an Asus k501D and have purchased this few weeks ago, bluetooth in memory was working just fine, be it replacing the default hd with a different one and a fresh win7 but that resulted in many BSOD's.

Now i have the original hard drive in and have all the programs installed working, i wanting to upload photos now to my phone for use and guess what? Bluetooth adapter is missing, installing drivers doesn't work, it just says adapter missing when trying to pair up my devices..

From the previously stated problem, when i switched my hd, i kept getting BSOD, i attributed this to my wifi so i opened up laptop..took off the antenna cables and the card, switched it with my other laptops' intel one and that doesn't even detect, so i put back the original one and now it works fine along with using the default hd.

With everything working fine, the only problem is the bluetooth adapter apparently non existing or not on..and undetectable.

    Any help please anyone?

Can you see the BT adapter in the Device Manager, or are there any devices that have a yield sign or exclamation mark?

Is there anyway you could boot from a Live Linux Distro and see if it detects it? Maybe through an lspci?

Ok, the Live Linux Distro is Linux where you just boot into the OS from the CD. It will help you find all kinds of potential problems like the one you're having, where Windows doesn't see the hardware. If Linux also doesn't see the hardware, you might have a faulty bluetooth adapter.

A lot of laptops have a hardware switch for the wifi/BT cards, make sure yours didn't get switched off or disconnected from opening up the case.

How do you know that the bluetooth is not working. What are you trying to connect to it and how. I am guessing that you have the wireless switch on that is on the side of your laptop. There should be a program called vaio control center. Open it and select wireless switch settings. Look to see if enable bluetooth device is checked. If both of these are on next expand the system tray and there should be a bluetooth icon there. If so it should be blue with white in the center if it is functional. Right click on it and select bluetooth configuration.
