Dell Inspiron e1705. I know that the wireless network works because I am using another laptop on the same network to talk to this forum. I can also connect to the network using the e1705. The issue is I cannot connect to the internet. I have restored to the original setting using the restore and have not added any software. Still cannot connect. I have also reviewed the networking posts but my guess is it is an IE issue. Any ideas?

I would probably guess firewall issue. If you have a firewall, turn it off (even XP's) and try to connect. If you are able to get I.E. to work without your firewall, then there is a setting wrong the firewall. What firewall are you using?

Either a firewall or router settings issue... perhaps your router is limiting you to a certain number of IP's.
However, if you really think it's an IE issue...try Mozilla Firefox.

I have disabled windows firewall. What else is strange is that I can see the network.

Do you have SSID Broadcast disabled?

Or in other words, have you messed with the wireless settings at all?

What makes me think this is an IE issue is that when I refresh the explorer, I get a blank screen and the flag (top right) will not move. If I hit the home icon flag moves, then it tries to go to google.com and I get "The page cannont be displayed"

I have changed the IP address to static to try and connect with a static address. No much other than that. I have repaired, it will disconnect and then reconnect. HELP

    Weird indeed.
Like I said... try Mozilla firefox; if that still doesnt work, you'll know it's a network issue.
