My brother wants to connect his X-Box to X-Box Live through his laptop using ICS. We got it to work once, but now nothing works. I have tried using 2 different XP machines, and a Vista machine, but none of them will connect. It used to be that the X-Box had an internet connection through ICS, but then the laptop or desktop it was hooked through would lose its connections, but now ICS just won't work. Any suggestions?

The pc used to share the connection must be online for ICS to work. Remember to setup the bridge to the port used for sharing, other than the main connection.

If you connect through the router, make sure all connection info is plugged into the router, and clone the mac address just incase you ISP looks at it.

If you use a personal FireWall, make sure you allow the traffic on the bridge.

I don't mean to be rude, but I do not understand what you are trying to say, and I am pretty computer literate. First, using ICS, you cannot bridge the two ports. Next, what information would I put into the router? No instruction I have ever seen talks about putting information into the router.

Here is what I want to do:

Connect the X-Box to the LAN port on a notebook. Then, use ICS and the Wi-Fi on the notebook to connect to the router. It worked once, but now if I turn ICS on for the Lan port, I loose internet for the laptop and get no connection for the X-Box to the laptop. If I turn ICS on for the Wi-Fi, I still can't get the LAN to connect (always says acquiring network address), but I still have internet on the laptop. All settings are default. I can check anything or get any more information if someone thinks they can help. Thanks in advance.

Right now the router is set as 192.168.0.2, because ICS wants 192.168.0.1. I can change the router. All of the devices are set to 192.168.0.1xx. That can be changed if necessary. When you say set the Ethernet port as the private network, what exactly does that mean?

Any suggestion of what I should set my router/network subnet to? Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.
