Okay, I've been helped in this forum before, but I think a new router has come out. I'm down to the Netgear WNDR3700 and the WNDR4000, as well as the Linksys e3000. Any suggestions?

Well the Netgear WNDR3700 is the top dog between it and the Linksys E3000 but the WNDR4000 should be better and offer 3x3 antenna and all to match the Linksys E4200. I wouldn't buy the E3000 now, i'd go the E2500 (new just released) as its pretty set also unless you need Gigabit ethernet ports. If you do then there's the E3200 for that :)

So far only 1 guy mentioned he got the WNDR4000 and i haven't seen any reviews of it anywhere so it's in the same boat now to me as the E2500/E3200.

the e2500 does apparently have 4 ports according to Amazon. I definitely need those as my desktop is wired, as is my brother's desktop and my Xbox 360.

Also, does it support USB printers or wireless printers?

    Meet the Linksys E-Series

    Look at those i guess.

The E2500 doesn't have USB of-course. The E3200 is the version you'd need for that.

Since E4200 is based on the same CPU that E3000 does I'm pretty sure that E3200 is too. Taking this into consideration E3200 with $150 price tag will be slower than Netgear WNDR3700 with $120 price tag.

If I was to but any of those now- I would still go for WNDR3700.
E4200 is better than WNDR3700 but not by $60.

It seems that Netgear is better than Linksys, which I thought. On that note, is the 4000 worth the extra $23? And is Linksys CS foreign like Netgears' is?

    Don't know about the CS.
As for WNDR4000 it's untested which means it can be completely rubbish.
If you're about to buy now I don't think it's worth it- you won't know what you're buying.
If you are willing to wait- that's a different story. WNDR4000 may prove to be something good just like new Linksys routers may turn out to be good (although if they don't turn out to be cheaper it won't help the sales anyway ;) )

I'll probably buy inside a month, so hopefully, there's some more information on the 4000 and the new Linksys routers by then. Thanks!

I'm going to Best Buy today so I'm wondering what you guys think I should do. Linksys or Netgear? They seem to be at the top right now. For Netgear I've looked at the 3700 and 4000. For Linksys I've looked at the 2000, 3000, 2500, and 3200.

I wouldn't but a Netgear 4000 until it gets properly tested.
You can safely go with WNDR3700 or a Linksys E4200.
I don't think E3200 is worth it- it seems to be an upgraded E3000 without the boost that E4200 has so in essence it would be slower than WNDR3700.

Also contrary to belief of people who are not really into networking Netgear is not famous for great routers in the same way that Intel is not famous for great Wi-Fi cards- yet because both companies have had some success recently (WNDR3700 & WNR3500L and Intel 5300 & 6200/6300) people seem to forget everything else.
Another words WNDR4000 may be completely useless. I suspect it won't be useless but I wouldn't but a router based on suspicion.

WNDR3700 is not an old piece of hardware that barely makes it. I can bet you won't be able to put enough load on it to make it quit. It always was too good for most people so it had and still has an edge.
That's why I couldn't understand choosing an unknown over a very good and proven piece of design.

Okay, BB didn't have the 3700 but they had the 4000, which was brand new. I went with the Linksys e4200! They only had the 3000 and the 4200. I kinda said screw it and went all out even though I didn't plan to.

Anyone here have the e4200? I really didn't look around at all, but I'm curious about the Wireless stuff. My parents' iPads and my PS3 didn't recognize the network, which was passworded before. I unplugged the power to the router and plugged it back in, and now they recognize the network, but the password is gone. I've gone in the settings and configured a password but it doesn't seem to work. Anyone know?

It's a dual band router so you have two SSIDs.
Are you sure that both are secured? Maybe you've secured one and devices are connecting to the other one.
