    Hello,

I am using a Sony Fw. It has now the intel 5100 a/g/n card installed. I returned my last one and reordered a new one again, but with Sony Tech level 2 and even with Netgear tech service I was only able to get it to go up to 130 mbs...
At first i found that I had to select WPA2-AES instead of the setting WPA-TKIP. When I restarted the computer it then was using 130 up from the 54 mbs its was stuck on. I am currently using the Dual Band Netgear Router WNDR-3300. It has the option for 2 channels--labeled N and G. Also I have the it set as follows:
    Name (11N SSID):
    Name (11G SSID):

    Mode: 270Mbps at 5GHz & 54Mbps at 2.4GHzUp
    11N Channel: 157/5.745GHz
    11G Channel: Auto

I had to mess around a lot at first to even have the N-network show up and finally when I switched the security I got the higher speeds. Now I know people can go faster and have seen faster througput. Please help me have the optimal settings and get it going to its max...

Is my router a crappy router>?

The Intel 5100 only supports up to 150Mbps. The 5300 supports much faster speeds.

I dont understand>? On the intel support site it states it supports up to 300mbs and the 5300 up to 450mbs?

They would not issue the wrong numbers right?
Up to 300 Mbps of Receive Bandwidth² results in a 5x Bandwidth increase² compared to legacy 802.11a/b/g solutions

I've had my dv5t and 5100AGN on just about every network you can
imagine. Performance has been excellent, with solid connections and no dropouts. However, I've never gotten anywhere near the 300mbps
    figure advertised by Intel.
