Hello people, I have a quick question. What's the best overall wireless PC card so that I can access the web or my email on my IBM Thinkpad T41 on the go? Thanks for any info!

The intel card in the notebook is already very good...do you have any specific needs?

You mean in car on the move??? in that case you'll probably need a WWAN service which is...hmm expensive

At home the intel card is fine.

I thought T41s came with IPW2100s? My 41p did and it worked fine but was only good for 802.11b.

If you're brave enough you can get your hands on an Intel 2200 802.11b/g Mini PCI Adapter for under 20 bucks. Two draw backs (maybe three) to this solution.

    1. You'll have to crack open your T41.
    2. You'll have to shut off the BIOS check for "IBM" wireless adapters. I remember there being an ISO out there that made it simple.
    3. The wireless status led will not work.

You can also buy an "IBM" Mini PCI adapter and you'll only have 1 to worry about.

I got my hands on a vanilla Intel and braved it. It's worked great for the past two years (and was a very cheap upgrade).

I've used PC cards but they never worked as well on my machine.

Edit: opps didn't notice the "on the go" part sorry :(

If you need something while you are in the car I suggest "tethering" your phone to your PC. Razor's offer this ability as well as many other phones, the cost for unlimited internet from Verizon is around $40 a month.

Kriks011's suggestion is a good one.

Just be careful, unlimited usually isn't.

I have had unlimited on my Q for around 6 months with no issues. In EVDO regions I am getting around 800k Down and 100k Up.
