How much are you willing to spend? The D-Link DIR-655 is imo, the best (or at least in the top 3) routers for sub $100 (on special).

Yes and if you have a local Circuit City doing it's clear out process you can pick up a DIR-825 for $119. It supports all b,g,n,a and dual 2.4ghz - 5 ghz bands. Very sweet, gigabit ports, shareport USB, but not as simple to set up as the linksys 160n or 310n which has a definate heat probem, took mine back today and picked up the DIR-825. Very happy with the results on an 8 client home network.
If you don't need as many whistles, the DIR-655 is a real nice router also.

Dual band and N are overkill for his needs. There is no point in paying for technology he can't use. OP unless you are planning on buying an N card to go along with it just stick with a good G router. i would suggest the Linksys WRT54GL. I have been using one that has been flashed to the Tomato firmware and it has been very reliable. The only time it has needed to be rebooted was for the flashing. I am very hard on my routers. I tend to go through 300GB/month. Than is just from the internet. All of that gets uploaded to my server. I don't even have a clue how much it streams for playback, probably a couple terabytes a month. If a router can live with me its a pretty solid device. That said I am planning on upgrading to a WRT610N. I an getting pretty desperate for N and gigabit.

Let us know what your think about the 610N when you get it. It's about the only one I haven't tested in the past few months....

The DIR-655 is great, but you wont really be able to take advantage of it without an N card. I suggest you get one. ;)

Other than that, a G router will be fine. Look at the D-Link WBR-2310. ;)
