My laptop loses contact with the wireless network whenever the laptop goes into standby. I use windows xp and the router is an airport extreme. I must restart the computer everytime after standby. How can I fix this?

disconnecting with the router on standby is quite normal. standy is basically the same thing as off for all intents and purposes. it would be unreasonable to assume that it would retain a connection with the wifi router when off.

however, once you come out of standby, it should attempt to reconnect on its own after a short while. if it doesn't, you can either toggle the wifi card off/on or run the "ipconfig /renew" command from the command prompt.

The repair connection buton should do the same thing as the release/renew. You should go ahead and update the drivers for your card and the firmware for the router to see if that helps.
