I just installed an update for the MS Office and all of the sudden my wire less won't work anymore.

This is what the event log says:
    Helper Class: Native WiFi MSM
    Initialize status: Success

    Information for connection being diagnosed
    Interface GUID: 5ecb77c2-fd25-46f1-9d6c-636f11075a9f
Interface name: 802.11g MiniPCI Wireless Adapter
    Interface type: Native WiFi
    Profile: dlinkF154
    SSID: dlinkF154
    SSID length: 9
    Connection mode: Infra
    Security: Yes
Connect even if network is not broadcasting: No

    Result of diagnosis: Problem found

    Root cause:
    Windows cannot connect to "dlinkF154"
This network is marked as a "hidden" network and is either not in range of this computer or the wireless settings saved on this computer do not match the settings of the network.

    Detailed root cause:
The network is marked as a "hidden" network and is either not in range of this computer or the wireless settings saved on this computer do not match the settings of the network

    Repair option:
Make sure your computer is in range of "dlinkF154" and that the network settings match the wireless router or access point settings

I wonder what this "hidden" bull is all about and how to find and "un-hidden" it.
    Any ideas...?

And yes, my computer is in range and the network is working (via cable). otherwise it would be quite difficult to write this thread.

Did you try a System Restore to get back before the MS Office update?

Nope, actually it was a big one - 300+Mb. Why would that screw up the wire less connection?

Can you see the wireless network in vista? Try removing the network from the remembered networks list.

did you double check your settings.......

sounds like the router may not be visible while broadcasting, or the card doesn't think it is. check the router to make sure the "radio" is on, then work on your card settings. you should be able to manually type in your ssid and find the wireless signal. you might try uninstalling the drivers for the card and reinstall them......
