After I connect my laptop to my house's Wifi network, I need to make a dial-up connection in order to get access to the Internet.
I find this strange because people have told me that after I am connected to a Wifi network, I do not need to make dial-up connection any more.

Can people please share your insight on this issue? Many thanks.

Check your proxy settings to make sure they aren't set to your old dialup ISP.
