My new Dell e1505 arrived today with included Intel Wireless Software and Card. I have a netgear router, the fvs318, hooked to a wireless router. it works fine with my other 2 wireless computers - theres no problem there. The wireless on the new dell (I've used both the windows and intel software with the correct encryption key) is connected to the network, but the internet does not work. I have checked and double checked the key (it connects to the network.). The workgroup is correct. I dont know what else there is. I have setup a static IP. I cannot ping google.com. I try to ping the wired router (fvs318) but no packets get returned. I just cant figure out where the problem is. Any help is appreciated. Do i have to install any netgear software on the Dell? Thanks

I just went through the same with a Westell modem and a Linksys router. At first I could only connect directly with the modem. It appears I've solved the problem thanks to advice from a FAQ on dslreports.com.

You may want to check there.

Best of luck. Now to figure out how to establish a secure wireless network.

Is there a reason you're using a static IP? If you're not getting any packets returned from your gateway router IP, then you can look no further then your notebook and the actual router.

You shouldn't have to install any netgear software on the dell.

I'd honesly suggest getting rid of the static IP. afterwords do a DNS flush, and a renew and see what happens
