This router i have either SUCKS or something is wrong.

Well if i sit right beside it with my laptop wireless it works great, even if i go alittle far away, but i can see the router still works good.

But when i go into my room, which isnt that far away, the signal almost DIES.

How can i do something so that signal can become strong?

    I got BELKIN 54G Router.

    Thanks

You may have something in the walls blocking the signal. In my experience wireless is quite temperamental. Try moving the router if you can to see if there is some form of interference between you and the router.

    Good Luck

i dunno what can be interfering...

I am sitting straight from the router, about 10-15 meters i guess...

Anything i can do with the settings to make it better?

It's your router. I have never used any of their products that actually worked. Most would die within a very short period of time. I don't use them or recommend any thing Belkin.

If it's new take it back and get a good router. If not buy a good router. If you want cheap and good, look at the Buffalo WHRG54S or the WHR-HP-G54, either one of these will run the dd-wrt firmware. Even without the firmware up grade it's better than your Belkin.

Are there walls between you and the router? Try sitting as far away as you can from the router but where you can visually see it (So you can be sure nothing is interfering) then try. It could be anything, I have a friend who cant get phone signal in her house except in one room. Different, I know but its just an example of interference for no apparent reason.

    I think its the walls.

But signal should go thorugh walls shouldnt it?

When i see the router, the internet works good, and when i cant, it doesnt...

Still help needed in setting this up.

    Thanks

I tried a Belkin and it sucked--not the cheap model either. I got me a Netgear router 824 I think with the blue bubble that blinks all the time in the center--Awesome, awesome router, Im upstairs and my router is downstairs in another room--so Im going thru walls, steps, floors and I get full 100% connectivity with it.

My router is also a Belkin and it works fine. Put yours as high as possible, away from phones and large metal objects. Update the router firmware and the driver for the wireless adapter. Try changing the channel, too.
